Sheena K. Aurora, M.D.

Dr. Sheena Aurora has nearly 30-years of experience working and teaching in the field of neurology and extensive research experience in mechanism of migraine and clinical trials. Prior to joining Impel, Sheena was a Senior Medical Fellow with Global Launch Leaders at Eli Lilly. She previously served as Clinical Associate Professor, Neurology at Stanford University’s School of Medicine. A national leader in headache research and treatment, Sheena was the lead investigator for the PREEMPT1 trial which led to the FDA approval of BOTOX® to treat chronic migraine, and has participated in numerous additional clinical trials including being the lead investigator in the MAP studies as well as the lead author on the publications.
Sheena attended Henry Ford Hospital where she studied Neurology. She then served as Director of the Headache Clinic at Henry Ford Hospital for four years before becoming Co-Director of the Swedish Headache Center at the Swedish Neuroscience Institute in Seattle, Washington. From 2001-2012, Sheena served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Washington in Seattle. Sheena was voted as one of the best doctors in Seattle Magazine’s “Seattle Best Doctors” in 2010 and 2011, and currently serves in five professional societies, including: NIH Headache Research Planning, American Academy of Neurology, Migraine Research Foundation Medical Advisory Board, NINDS Common Data Elements, and the American Headache Society. She is a graduate of Christian Medical College.
